Cross-border cooperation on the Polish-Lithuanian border
Academia Europa Nostra experts are taking part in the implementation of the project "Directions and prospects of the tourism sector development in Lithuanian-Polish borderland". The project is being implemented in 2024-2025. The project coordinator is prof. Joanna Kurowska Pysz from the Higher School of Business in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
The project is a continuation of the work commissioned by the European Commission aimed at establishing a cross-border functional area (CFA) focused on the development of tourism. Analyses to date have shown that creating a flexible destination management structure would enable intensification of cooperation between key stakeholders on both sides of the border, implementation of cross-border projects and promotion of tourism products. The challenge is to link the soft formula with the EGTC (European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation) instrument.
